Honey is subject to fraud and its quality raises controversy. It is therefore important to guarantee that it is 100% pure and natural. Beekeepers know perfectly well the location of their hives, but unfortunately they cannot know where their bees are going to forage.

Honey is subject to fraud and its quality raises controversy. It is therefore important to guarantee that it is 100% pure and natural*.  Beekeepers know perfectly well the location of their hives, but unfortunately they cannot know where their bees are going to forage. Indeed, the bee is a wild animal that forages freely in a radius of 3.5 km around the hive, that is to say 40 km². In a polluted environment, they can bring back insecticides, antibiotics, herbicides and other toxic substances or endocrine disruptors into the hive. Honey is not always pure because it can be contaminated by these substances present in the environment but also by those used by beekeepers to fight against bee diseases (American and European foulbrood) or hive parasites (varroa). Honey is not always natural either because it can be adulterated by fraudulent additions of sugars or by sugar syrups used by beekeepers to feed their bee colonies.

This is why, since 1973, Famille Michaud Apiculteurs has called upon a laboratory to analyze and select honeys. This analysis laboratory has an incomparable knowledge of honeys in the world!

This partner, AB LABO, is constantly developing its level of requirements and is constantly improving. For example, by investing in 2016 in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Identification (NMRI) technology. This state-of-the-art device, guarantees with unprecedented precision the authenticity, origin and freshness of honeys.

Another example, some members of the team of our partner AB LABO, are trained in pollen analysis. Melissopalynology is a very specific skill that requires years of training and consists in recognizing the pollen present in honey to guarantee its origin. The collaboration between the Michaud Family and AB Labo Beekeepers continues to this day. We entrust 180,000 analyses per year to the 12 AB LABO experts. More than ever, Famille Michaud Apiculteurs is surrounded by reliable and efficient partners to offer everyone products of impeccable quality.

For 4 generations, Famille Michaud Apiculteurs has acquired an incomparable knowledge and culture of honey in the world, which has enabled it to develop its own processes. Its know-how consists in filtering the honey from foreign bodies, such as wax from the cells, or bee debris, while preserving its qualities. Until it is put in a jar, the liquid honey is maintained at the natural temperature of the hive. The honey thus preserves all its nutritional properties.
