Our commitment

Deeply attached to nature and its riches, the Michaud family is committed to protecting biodiversity and developing beekeeping in France.

Our number one commitment will also be to quality.
The quality of the natural sweeteners we select and bottle.

CSR policy

At Famille Michaud, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is at the heart of our strategy and our commitment.

“Aware of the scale of the environmental challenges we face, our company is fully committed to an ambitious CSR policy through large-scale projects, certifications/labels and making more responsible purchases. Our strength comes from nature, and it’s up to us to protect it.”

Marie Michaud,
Managing Director

Nos marques
PME+ Label
PME+ is the CSR label for French companies on a human scale, denoting suppliers to the retail sector that are committed to more ethical and responsible practices. The PME+ label is awarded after an annual inspection by Ecocert environnement, based on a reference framework derived from the ISO 26000 standard.”
FEEF definition of the label
It is awarded following an audit based on precise specifications and 4 key themes:
  • Creating value in France and its regions
  • Responsible sourcing
  • he entrepreneur’s commitment
  • The drive for continuous improvement
Since we were first awarded the label in 2019, our performance has steadily improved on the various rating criteria, reflecting the growing maturity of our CSR approach.

EcoVadis Bronze Medal
“The EcoVadis medals are awarded to eligible companies that have completed their EcoVadis assessment process and whose management system is robust enough to cover the CSR criteria.”
Définition selon EcoVadis.
In 2024, we were awarded the EcoVadis Bronze Medal for the first time. This medal is a real source of pride for our company. It underlines the long-term collective efforts and genuine desire to work towards improving CSR management performance in order to generate a positive impact.

It is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the company using the EcoVadis rating system, based on criteria divided into 4 main areas:
  • The environment
  • Social & human rights
  • Ethics
  • Responsible purchasing
Winning a bronze medal is wonderful, but it also motivates us to continue working together to make progress across all areas.

Decarbonisation

In collaboration with ADEME (Agence de la Transition Ecologique), we are working on our decarbonisation strategy for 2030 to meet the requirements of the COP 21 Paris Agreement. Reducing our carbon footprint is obviously one of the cornerstones of CSR, but it is also our duty as a company.
Our packaging
Because our business is so aligned with nature, we know how important it is to protect the environment, and that includes the packaging used for our products.

Here are a few highlights:
  • We were the first to offer agave syrup in a fully recyclable stand-up pouch.
  • All our bottles are made from recycled plastic. On average they contain 25% plastic.
  • We are also the first to offer honey in cardboard and paper jars (jar, lid and cover).
Nos engagements
Coalition défi vrac
The Bulk Challenge coalition

The best packaging is no packaging. That’s why, since 2022, we’ve been part of the Bulk Challenge Coalition with the Bel, Danone and Lesieur groups. A unique collaboration to make bulk products accessible and sustainable in new categories of semi-liquid, viscous or spreadable products such as honey, yoghurts, cheese spreads and mayonnaises.

The project is currently being rolled out, so check out our LinkedIn page for the latest news.

Lune de Miel Fondation
The Lune de Miel® Foundation
It was against a backdrop of crisis, following a black year for honey harvests, that we created the Lune de Miel® Foundation in 2014.
Since it was established, the Lune de Miel® Foundation has embodied our civic commitment on a daily basis. The mission of the Lune de Miel® Foundation is above all to preserve bees, develop beekeeping in Europe and protect biodiversity by supporting innovative and responsible projects.
The three pillars of the foundation:
  • Bee health
  • Safeguarding biodiversity
  • The impact of climate change on the beekeeping sector

Beeliz
BEELIZ®, A COMMITTED HAPPYCULTURE
Since October 2024, Beeliz® has brought a breath of fresh air to the honeycomb.
Our brand of honey is an invitation to think big, to gather bee-autiful ideas, and to believe that even the smallest actions can make the world a wo-honey-derful place.

Every jar that is purchased helps to plant 100 honey-producing flowers, thus improving our environment and supporting our precious bees, which are essential to honey production.

Committed to quality

Honey
Honey is a wonderful product, a natural sweetener, a pure product from the bee’s work, but unfortunately it is still one of the 5 most fraudulent food products in the world.
The three types of honey fraud:
Our commitment
What’s more, bees are wild animals that forage freely within a radius of several kilometres of the hive.

In an increasingly polluted environment, this can bring contaminants back into the hive (pesticides, antibiotics, etc.).

Honey is not always pure, as it can be contaminated by substances present in the environment, as well as those used by beekeepers to combat bee diseases and parasites such as varroa mites.
The only way to guarantee the quality of a honey is to check and analyse it.
At Famille Michaud, our fight has always been about the quality of our honey and combatting fraud. To do this, we analyse 100% of the honey we put into jars.

This allows us to guarantee:
  • The geographical origin
  • Its floral designation
  • Its purity (i.e. nothing has been added or removed)

A 3-stage analysis process:

Our commitment
Maple syrup
Our maple syrup is produced, harvested and selected in the heart of Canada’s maple groves.
Before being bottled, it is first analysed and then classified. The classification of maple syrup, which is unique to Canada, is based on a rigorous process designed to ensure the product’s quality. This results in four categories of maple syrup, distinguished by their colours, and each with a unique taste.

At Famille Michaud we offer:
  • Amber maple syrup with notes of caramel and vanilla, available in supermarkets.
  • A dark and very dark maple syrup with more pronounced notes for professionals.
Agave syrup
Like honey, agave syrup undergoes a 3-stage analysis process carried out by a qualified laboratory:
  • On receipt of the sample
  • Before being jarred
  • On finished products
Our partners work with us to select a quality agave syrup with a beautiful amber colour.

Committed to the industry

Above all, we want to guarantee the long-term future of our supply chains by establishing long-term relationships with our partners, thereby guaranteeing the traceability and quality of our natural sweeteners.
